Patterns in a wooden board look like a landscape map. The lines could serve as elevation info. This virtual landscape was experimentally reconstructed in 3D on the computer – a kind of reverse engineering the landscape from the map. You can go into this alien, yet recognisable landscape by means of computer animation. Exploration of Virtual Woodscape is much easier and cheaper than going to Mars. The experience is closer to home, so there are unlimited possibilities just around the corner. This project started late 2004 as research and development in cooperation with Trondheim Art Museum and the University of Natural Sciences in Trondheim, NTNU.
